Level Creation using Unreal Engine 2.5
The basic theme behind the map is a reflection of what UAT, as a living building, is dreaming about late at night. The dream is that a bunch of the UT2004 characters jump out of the computers and fight each other in the middle of the commons. Each team takes one of the two trash cans as a base. They block off the stairs and exits in order to prepare for battle. If they need to, they sometimes move things around. This phenomenon has also been witnessed by some of the students and faculty.

My setting will essentially be a modified version of the commons. I will include most of the tables and desks. The gametype will be Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch. The level will include low gravity to make it more of an aerial battle as well as ground battle. The weapons and powers are all located on top of the desks. This makes it essential to stay on top in order to get weapons and power ups. If the player falls, they can continue the battle on the floor, but eventually need to make it back up to resupply.

I added jump pads to allow the player to get on top of the tables. These jump pads are the only way to get up. This level will test the players dodging and aerial abilities. I scaled the player down as to give the feeling of little characters that have jumped out of the game development computers in the commons. This, combined with low gravity, make the map feel big and bouncy.
Scripting The Level
The actual scripting part of the level took quite a bit of time to complete. I didn't realize at first, how much work went into creating a level that is playable by both players and bots. I included weapons, ammo, jump spots, running paths, and adrenaline pick ups. I had to set up the tops of the tables so that the AI knew how to jump over the dividers. To do this, I put jump spots on each corners of the dividers and manually told the AI the next spot they could jump to from their current location.
